And you are sure that you have actually started the Steam version and did not make a typo? I can not imagine that the parameter is ignored when spelled right.

Do you see the splash screen when starting JWildfire? And does the splash screen vanish when you remove the -splash-option from the *.cfg? (This would prove that you are starting the right version and edit the right cfg.file)

Maybe you can the copy the parameters from somewhere else to make sure that there are not hidden characters or something. You can also try the MB-notation, e.g.
-Xmx10240m
should reserve 10 GB.

OK splash screen is a good idea because I discovered 2 versions on my machine and I am the first to be surprised!
but eventually we found a rational explanation for the problem (sorry for those who believe in witches :lol: )
now everything is fine, thank you very much
